Why therapy?
Psychotherapy provides a unique opportunity to talk about any anxieties, concerns, dissatisfactions, symptoms, or traumas in a safe, non-judgmental, confidential space. It can help with a wide range of difficulties, providing relief from distress and a renewed sense of hope and possibility for life.
Some people come to psychotherapy in order to seek help with a particular problem; whereas others wish to explore their lives more fully in the hope of making meaning of their lives, connecting to their creativity and joy, or improving the depth and connections of their relationships at home, in their communities and at work.
About Me
My psychotherapy practice is rooted in a deep interest in, and respect for, the diversity of human experience, resilience and healing. I have the privilege of having worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.
I have twenty years experience specialising in working with, and running services for, people who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma and sexual exploitation, including harm within institutional settings. I am experienced at working with anxiety, depression, shame, loss, discrimination, relationship and intimacy difficulties, illness, self-injury, grief, anger, body image and identity issues. I am always led by your priorities and needs.
In my approach I seek to work collaboratively with clients as individuals and experts in their own lives. Together we would explore what is affecting you with curiosity and care. I have training in integrative psychotherapy which means I draw from a range of approaches to tailor my therapy to your needs. My approach is framed by gestalt dialogical, psychodynamic and intersubjective theories. For me this means offering clients authenticity and autonomy through building a meaningful, empathic relationship. I believe we can find ourselves caught in patterns from past experiences and that exploring this in the present can support people to heal and create new ways to be in the future.
I take responsibility for my role in our therapeutic relationship and it is important to me to work in a way that recognises the many aspects of identity you may hold, whether that's your cultural background, class, gender, disability, neurodiversity, sexual identity or anything else. Social justice and anti-oppressive practice underpin my work.
I currently offer weekly psychotherapy sessions in person in central Bristol. I primarily have availability on Mondays at this time. My fees are £50/hour.
I am a psychotherapist-in-training at the Metanoia Institute which means I am closely supervised in all my work with clients.
I am registered with the UKCP as a Psychotherapist-in-Training and work within their code of ethics. I am also a qualified Social Worker and hold qualifications in Social Work and Advanced Social Work. I hold current registration with Social Work England.
